Today was a typical March day in Virginia - unpredictable clouds, a little bit of sun and a decent chance of rain. So, Ryan got to wear his spring rain jacket to the grocery store. It was quite possibly one of the cutest things I've seen on him.

Spring in Virginia

A Break from Tradition
On my side of the family, teeth arrive late. My brother and I - both after we turned a year old. Mike's oldest Catherine - same thing. His younger daughter Anna will be a year next month - still nothing in her mouth either. Well, it seems as though some of Ryan's Parmentier genes are starting to kick in. He has sprouted the beginning of his first tooth in his bottom gums. No photographic evidence yet, but we'll get there.

Doing Pull-ups
Clearly, Ryan is not satisfied with his ability to crawl. He will now pull himself up on anything he can reach. Yesterday, it was the windowsill where he was looking out the window as I got home from work. Today is was his jumperoo, the bottom stair and the side of his crib (when he should have been going to sleep). As you can see, he's pretty proud of himself.
The Jumperoo was his favorite toy to play in. It looks like he's found a different use for it now.
Next up on his agenda is moving himself from place to place on his feet. He's got a pretty good handle on it so far.

Happy Easter
We had lots of family over for Easter dinner today. It was a great Polish feast. As usual, Ryan was the center of attention.
He was all dressed up for the day including the little hat that matched his pants. He spends most of his time stand at his Leap Frog table looking out the window.
Grandpa really enjoyed his time with Ryan. Here Ryan goes for a ride around the living room.
Ryan's Easter "basket" was an adorable elephant hamper. We couldn't resist putting him inside.

Weekend Fun
My parents came down from NJ this weekend. They told us that they wanted to help us do some projects around the house. I think it was more of an excuse to hang out with Ryan :) They brought him his very own swing that we hung from the deck. It looks like he's going to enjoy it.
He also keeps pushing the limits of his skills. He managed to pull himself up to standing while playing. No movies this time, but I did get a before and after picture.
Finally, proof that I do more with my son than simply take his picture. Grandma took some pictures of her own and was able to grab some of Ryan and I together.

7 Months
Another month has gone by. This has been a big one for all of us. Another move, a new house and crawling. From the looks of the new pictures, maybe reading will be next :)

Skillz - I has them
Lisa handles the movies, I stick to the photos. Here you see Ryan exercising his new skill in an attempt to steal a bone from our unsuspecting pomeranian. Based on size alone you wouldn't realize that Ryan is more than twice the weight of Igor.
Ryan sneaks in while the dog remains oblivious.
Its not until Ryan is within reach of his target that poor Igor catches on.
On smugmug you can see the shots from ActII where Ryan again chases down the bone after Iggy moves it. Boy, this crawling thing is going to be a ton of work for all of us.

Getting Close
Ryan has been trying really hard to start crawling. He gets up on all fours, rolls all over and scoots a bit...its only a matter of time.
Sometimes though, nothing can compete with the excitement of his own feet.

Taking a Break
I took a little break from unpacking and cleaning to grab a couple pictures of Ryan in the new house. He's really been enjoying checking out his new surroundings too.
